OWENSBORO, Ky. — Vincent C. Tanner, 74, of Owensboro, passed to his rest on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Vince was born July 20, 1949, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to the late Max and Kathryn Tanner.
He graduated from the University of Michigan receiving degrees in history and business. Vince worked for the McDonald’s Corporation for 50 years, starting in 1965 at the age of 14.
He moved with his family to Western Kentucky where he owned and managed several franchises. Vince traveled the United States and abroad for McDonald’s Corporation in his role as a franchise manager and one of his greatest pleasures was fostering the professional growth of his employees.
Vince thrived in his adopted Ohio County, Kentucky, community, and he expressed his appreciation by serving on several boards and committees. He was especially devoted to efforts to improve the opportunities and well-being of children. He enjoyed being a motivational speaker, emphasizing the importance of a positive outlook on life. He loved history and enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the Civil War and World War I.
Vince’s life was dedicated to serving God, family, his friends, and his fellow man. As a dedicated Christian, he enjoyed working with the Gideons International in sharing the gospel with the world.
Vince was preceded in death by his wife, Valorie, and brother, Tony Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie; brother, Courtney Smith; sister, Michelle Tanner; daughters; Elizabeth Stewart and Amy Tanner; son, John Tanner; stepsons, Dr. Seth Hunter and Judson Hunter; and seven grandchildren.
Visitations will be held at Bevil Brothers Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, Kentucky, on May 20, 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on May 21 at 9 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m.
