BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Doris Ann Himes Mason, or “Ninnie” to her family, 85, of Beaver Dam, passed away April 24, 2024, with her family by her side at Ohio County Healthcare. She was born Sept. 21, 1938, in Hartford, Kentucky, to the late Elbert Himes and Ethel Whitler Himes.
Doris retired from the Ohio County Public Library after 42 years as the children’s Librarian.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Billy C. Mason; daughter, Lisa Mason Chaney; grandson; Billy T. Mason; two sisters, Betty Lois Himes, and Ethel Rae Himes; and three brothers, Billy Joe “Pete” Himes, Bobby R. Himes, and Freddie B. Himes.
Doris leaves behind to cherish her memory her devoted son, Terry Mason, of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Amanda Mason (Bobby) Hays, of Beaver Dam, Mariah (Nate) Stallings, of Utica, Kentucky, Craig Adam Mason, of Hartford, Kentucky, and Robert (Samantha) Jones and Courtney Jones, of Maryland; 11 great-grandchildren, Makiah, Hadley, Jeslynn, Aiden, Maddox, Dejha, Kadince, Jackson, Hazel, Mea, and Sylas; two sisters, Joan Himes, of Beaver Dam, and Janice Himes Stone, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 29, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Keith Shephard officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Doris’ family from 12 p.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
