HARTFORD, Ky. — Joseph Thomas Payne, 79, of Hartford, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his home. He was born on Jan. 16, 1945, in Knottsville, Kentucky, to the late Henry Spalding and Anna Regina Head Payne.
Joe attended McHenry Baptist Church, he worked in maintenance at Commonwealth Aluminum, and was a proud member of the United Steel Workers Union Local #9443. He loved dancing, golfing, fishing, camping, and snow birding in Florida.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Payne and William Payne, and one sister, Linda C. Payne.
He leaves behind to cherish many memories are his wife, Diane Daugherty Casey Payne; three children, Derrick (Tamera-Lyn) Payne, Donna Payne, and Stephanie (James) Henderson; three stepchildren, Vincent (Shannon) Casey, Tony (Jenny) Casey, and Amy (Jeremy) Phelps; one brother, Anthony Payne; and one sister, Thelma Hinton. Joe was blessed with six grandchildren, Autumn, Danielle, Colton, Telah, Carmyn, and Logan, and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, with Minister Derrick Payne officiating. Friends may visit with Joe’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
