HARTFORD, Ky. — Nancy Margaret (Paxton) Spinks, 90, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at her home. She was born on Sept. 12, 1933, to the late Steve Vernon and Cora Belle (Wilson) Paxton, in Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
After graduating from Beaver Dam High School in 1951, she went on to obtain a nursing degree from the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. On Feb. 5, 1955, she married the love of her life, Hayward F. Spinks. They were married for 67 years until Hayward’s passing on Oct. 16 2022, and are now reunited in Heaven for eternity.
Nancy dedicated her life to her family, embodying the role of a loving homemaker with grace and tenderness. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Nancy was a devoted Christian since she was a young girl.
She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and served by singing soprano in the choir and served on the Hospitality committee. Once she became unable to physically attend, she listened to services on the radio and watched the live streams. She taught Sunday school and the GA’s, was a leader of the Girl Scouts, a member of the Hartford Women’s Club, a charter member of Ohio Co. Hospice, and served on numerous community committees. She was a lifelong partner in her husband’s business ventures.
She was always supportive of her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending sporting events and school functions. She enjoyed family gatherings and was always a gracious hostess for friends and family. She was a most kind-hearted, soft-spoken, sweet-spirited, beautiful person inside and out.
She is survived by her; children, Leesa Spinks and Lesley (Jim) Spinks Tidwell; grandchildren, Adriane (Jay) Davidson, Shane (Leesha) Vincent, Chase (Carley) Vincent, Dewayne (Traci) Tidwell, and Kristi (Dan) Goski; great-grandchildren, Asher, Addyson and Axton Alvey, and Abriane Davidson, Knox, Bowen, and Bella Vincent, Ryan and Dani Tidwell, Hunter, Breydan, and Kyler Goski; and siblings, Marilyn (David) Crume, and Donna Lynn (Mike) Cambron.
Services will be held Saturday, March 16, at 12 p.m. at The Hartford Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Visitation will be at The Hartford Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
