BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Sue Willoughby Havens, 83, of Beaver Dam, passed away Feb. 20, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 20, 1940, to the late John T. Willoughby and the late Anna Bradshaw Willoughby.
She was a hard worker, making sure her home was clean and welcoming. Many times, there would be warm pies cooling. She filled in as a teacher at Hartford Jr. High and Ohio County Middle School.
She loved passing time playing Bingo. She engaged regularly with her neighbors and anyone passing by. She knew everyone and all their kinfolk. She was a proud momma and grandma Mamaw Sue. She was an avid fan of UK basketball.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Hilward C. Willoughby, Patsy Jean Jones, Stella Myrtle Dearinger, John Allen Willoughby, Jerry Wayne Willoughby, and Joyce Elaine Willoughby and Anna Mae Dearinger.
Cherishing her memories are her seven children, John Wayne Willis (Carol), of Beaver Dam, David Eugene Willis (Vickie), of Hartford, Kentucky, Renee Willis Haywood, of Hartford, Carol Ann Willis Smith (Maynard), of the United Kingdom, Vincent Willis, of Roundhill, Kentucky, Danny Taylor Calloway, (Bobbie Jo), of Beaver Dam, Donna Sue Calloway, of Beaver Dam; brother, Robert “Bob” Willoughby; five sisters, Glenda Lucille Calloway, Dona Faye Mills, Dora Francis Clark, Joan Collard, and Juanita Strieff; and 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
The family is honoring Sue Havens wishes and has chosen cremation with a service to be held at a later date.
