HARTFORD, Ky. — Charles D. Proctor, 82, of Hartford, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, at his home while under the care of Hospice. He was born July 18, 1941, in Logan County, Kentucky, to the late Wilbur and Nora Harrison Proctor.
Charles was a retired construction worker and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed working in his yard and raising a vegetable garden. He also enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture, and caring for his animals including his cows, chickens, raccoons, and pigeons.
Charles was also preceded in death by his longtime companion, Mary Tucker, on May 14, 2020; his sister, Wanda Lou Carnell, on Aug. 14, 2023; and a half-sister, Linda Proctor.
Surviving are a son, Danny Proctor, of Owensboro, Kentucky; two daughters, Dana Alvey and Roxanne Proctor, both of Tell City, Indiana; a stepson, David West (Kim), of Tennessee; a brother, Russell Proctor; eight grandchildren, James D. Proctor. Amber Proctor, Karl Proctor, Mary Devine, Greg Lanham, April Nunn, Andrea Nunn, and David “Lil David” West; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service with full military honors will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at Bells Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County, Kentucky.
