PRINCETON, KY — The Kentucky State Police has issued an Amber Alert in Caldwell County.

According to KSP Post 2, around 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024,  they received a call from the Princeton Police Department requesting assistance with a death investigation on Center St. in Princeton.

The preliminary investigation revealed the Princeton Police Department responded to the residence for a welfare check and discovered the body of Kelly Black, 42, of Princeton.

KSP Troopers and Detectives responded to the scene and learned Kelly Black was the victim of a murder.  The KSP launched an investigation and subsequently obtained an arrest warrant for the victim’s husband, Byron Black, 42, of Princeton.  Byron Black left the scene before law enforcement arrived at the residence.

Lela Black, 5, is currently missing. She is described as 3 foot 6 inches tall, 40 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She is believed to be with her biological father, Byron Black. He is suspected to be armed and dangerous and is currently wanted for murder.

Byron Black is 6 foot tall, 180 pounds, with brown eyes and hair. Byron Black is possibly traveling in a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado with the license plate 5J83779 and paint peeling off the hood.
