F. Wayne ‘Kooter’ Shouse

OWENSBORO, Ky. — F. Wayne “Kooter” Shouse, 72, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born July 12, 1951, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Ferman and Margaret Young Shouse.

Wayne had retired as a truck driver for Don Buchanan Trucking, was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, and had served in the Army National Guard for six years. He enjoyed drag racing having raced at Windy Hollow Raceway and working on cars. He also enjoyed fishing, his dogs, and especially loved his family very much.

Wayne was also preceded in death by a brother, Ferman “Jim” Shouse, in 2020.

Surviving are his wife of eight years, June Phelps Shouse; two sons, Nathan (Laura) Shouse, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Damien (Jessie) Shouse, of Mt. Union, Pennsylvania; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; six stepchildren, Marisa (Chad) Maggard, of Masonville, Kentucky, Ryan Gordon, of Owensboro, Matthew Shelton, of Owensboro, Jason (Loretta) Iler, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Misty (David) Embry, of Horse Branch, Kentucky, and April (Robbie) Cardwell, of Beaver Dam; two sisters, Karen Weakley and Ellie Cameron, both of Owensboro; two brothers, Rev. Allen Shouse, of Owensboro, and John (Lynn) Shouse, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
