BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Suzanne M. Titzer LaCour, 90, of Beaver Dam, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024. Suzanne was born in Evansville, Indiana, in August 1933, to the late Lavina Louise Engel Titzer and Raymond Philip Titzer.
Suzanne was a devoted wife and mother and an excellent role model to her four children. She loved to stay happy and taught her children to maintain a positive outlook. Under her photo in her high school yearbook, it read “Most likely to become a Nun.”
After graduating high school in 1951, she worked as an executive assistant at Servel in Evansville. She enjoyed trips and train rides with her sister, Bettilou, and local military dances, where she met Jack and married him in 1954. During their courtship, Jack’s Air Force Aviation graduating Class 54-E voted Suzanne as Cadet Queen.
Suzanne enjoyed horseback riding, water skiing, and boating. She loved to dance and had an aptitude to draw and write. She enjoyed motorcycle riding with Jack, camping in the Ozarks, and floating down the Current River where she could see through clear waters the rock-covered bottom, collecting uniquely aesthetic rocks for landscaping back home.
Suzanne would rather be outside doing earthy tasks than inside. Her favorite joke was about a lion and a mouse. Suzanne had a mind for business, she drew blueprints for the family home. She was industrious and enterprising even at 90.
Suzanne took extraordinary pride in her 69-year marriage to her husband Jack. Together, they demonstrated teamwork and could figure out and do almost anything and everything together.
Later in life in her 80’s, Suzanne built dollhouses and their furnishings some handcrafted by Jack or gifted by family. She enjoyed this hobby in the she-shed lovingly built by her son Jeff and family friend Butch. Into her 90th year, Sue continued to be adroit and enterprising. She even drove an all-terrain vehicle with her daughter, Christi, as a passenger on a ride down the hill of her property through the fields where cattle and horses had roamed, at 90.
We remember her as a remarkably strong woman and beloved mother and grandmother.
Suzanne is predeceased by her husband, Jack L. LaCour.
Suzanne leaves behind to cherish her memory four children, Dr. Victor C. LaCour and wife, Debi; Christi A. LaCour; Jeffrey A. LaCour and his wife, Hallie, and Cathy E. LaCour Moore; beloved grandchildren, Kary Kirpatrick and Kim, Courtney Kirkpatrick Allen and Seth, Johnathon LaCour and Lavonda, Stacey LaCour Cope and Dink, and Avery Moore; great-grandchildren, Kaytlin Kirkpatrick Richards (Jack), Kory Kade and Kelsey Kirkpatrick; Zane Bryce and Paige Allen; Bronson LaCour (Haley), Alexander LaCour and Justin LaCour; Madison and Piper Cope; and step-grandchildren, Christina Bain Brown and Anthony (Austin, Abigail), Tabitha Bain (Emily) and Christopher Bain (son, Blake); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. (CST) and funeral services at 12 noon at Koehler Funeral Home, 304 E Main Street, Boonville, IN 47601.
