HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Kathy Ann Daugherty, 67, of Horse Branch, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, at her home. She was born Dec. 27, 1956, in Hartford, Kentucky, to the late Samuel Howard and Emma Lee Embry Howard.

“It was always you.”

Johnny and Kathy’s love story started July 21, 1974. Throughout their 49 years they were inseparable; each other’s everything. Through the highs and lows a love that was so rare it “lassoed the moon”.

For 18 years Kathy was “the first lady” of Hopewell Baptist Church in Horse Branch along with her husband, Pastor John Daugherty. The love for her church was endless. Each and everyone that walked through the door was greeted with a huge hug. She went above and beyond to make sure you felt loved and welcomed. Everyone at Hopewell held a special place in her heart. She truly loved them all.

She was the most amazing mother, and she was so proud of her girls and made sure to tell them every day. She made sure to leave no doubt on the love she had for them. Even the girls’ friends became family. Some of her happiest moments were spent surrounded by friends and family playing music and dancing. She thought life couldn’t get any better…until she became a GiGi. She was their favorite toy and best friend. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for them, from makeup done with sharpies, crafting for hours, baking or any other fun challenges … She did it all.

The impact she had on our lives will forever live on for she left a Legacy of LOVE. Now these three remain: faith, hope and love but the greatest of these is LOVE.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Freda Willoughby; nephew, Perry Levacy; niece, Anita Frizzell; and the light in her life, her grandson, Walker Lindsey.

Kathy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Baymus John Daugherty, of Horse Branch; two daughters, Misty Ann Daugherty, of Horse Branch, and Amanda John (Mike) Lindsey, of Echols, Kentucky; the one that came first, daughter at heart, Robbie Sue Lynn, of Fordsville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Kyra Lindsey, Makena Lindsey, Raylee Lindsey; and the special ones she chose to be her grandchildren, Sierra Hobdy, Matthew Castorena, Lane Castorena, Alexis Castorena; two brothers, Brad (Mary) Howard and Ronnie Howard; along with several nieces and nephews and every other one she called “hers.”

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, with Bro. John Daugherty officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Horse Branch. Friends may visit with Kathy’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral Sunday at the funeral home.
