FORDSVILLE, Ky. — Doyle Gene Geary, 69, of Fordsville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at Owensboro Health in Owensboro. He was born on Jan. 27, 1954, in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Kenneth and Chloris Payton Geary.
He was a farmer who enjoyed spending time with his cows, collecting Zippos and pocket knives, listening to Bluegrass music, and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Williams Geary, of Fordsville; two daughters, Rita Jean Reitman (Jeff) and Mary Ann Ray (Randall), both of Fordsville; three grandchildren, Joshua Scott Reitman, Robert Gene Reitman, and Vena Marie Sampson (Logan); three step-grandchildren, Lisa Ray, Jimmy Ray (Cindy) and Sherry Veach; a great-grandchild, Amelia Grace Sampson; one step-great-grandchild, Laura Peveler; two step-great-great-grandchildren, Dalton and Dylan McBride; a brother, Homer Lee Geary (Brenda), of Hartford, Kentucky; and his beloved dog, Bashful. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Timmy Whitworth will be officiating. Burial will be in the McGrady Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. Friday until time of services.
