OWENSBORO, Ky. — Troy Lee Ellis, 61, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He succumbed to multi-organ failure, secondary to stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Troy Lee Ellis was born May 2, 1962, in Calhoun, Kentucky, to the late Richard Hue “Richie” and Elizabeth Ann Huff Ellis and grew up in Rumsey, Kentucky.
Troy was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a devoted boat captain and retired from the Crounse Corporation in 2022 after more than 40 years of service. He was a friend to all of his neighbors. Whatever he had, he would lend to someone in need, without hesitation. Troy loved watching UK games with friends, enjoyed fishing and camping at Windy Hollow Campground, and boating.
In addition to his parents, Troy was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Ellis.
Troy is survived by two daughters, Amy Cameron (Eric), of Hawesville, Kentucky, and Marissa Ellis, of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Eric Lee Cameron, Cash Cameron, Haddie Jo Ellis, Grant Cameron, and Jackson Lee Stewart; and a sister, Bettina Hardesty of Hartford, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Friends may visit with Troy’s family from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. Monday at Musters in Calhoun.
