BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Donna Marie Gilstrap McGregor, born Feb. 3, 1963, in Beaver Dam, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, in Cynthiana, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Kickie and Mary Theresa Hryhorczuk Gilstrap.
Donna had an incredible sense of humor and a spirit that lit up any room she entered. She was a wildly resilient woman who consistently helped others believe in themselves. Her kind heart enabled her to love in a way that is rarely seen in this world. She was generous beyond compare and could be counted on to help those in need without hesitation. Donna fiercely cherished time with friends and family, and was very thankful to have reconnected with so many over the last few years.
She was an extremely talented artist in multiple mediums and was still designing days before her passing. Donna’s limitless creativity helped forge a multi-decade artistic career with numerous accolades. Her costume designs were featured in multiple magazines and television outlets and her mosaic pieces were displayed in art galleries and juried art shows, along with her beautiful interior designs enjoyed by the families who commissioned her.
Donna was preceded in death by her brothers, Jeffrey and Pete Gilstrap.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ricky McGregor; daughter, Bethaney Martin; stepdaughters, Erin Simpson and Amanda Gannon; grandchildren, Olivia Simpson, Gehrig Simpson, and Lincoln Gannon; brother, Pat Gilstrap; sister, Theresa Ann Gilstrap; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
A memorial service for Donna will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST (12 to 2 p.m. EST) Saturday, Dec. 9, at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home on Louisville Road in Beaver Dam. Link to live stream: https://tinyurl.com/36dbhxap.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jessy Anderson, a dear family friend who took great care of Donna during the last few years of her life and whom both she and Rick loved like a son. The family would also like to thank the staff of Harrison County Hospital for their wonderful care of Donna and for the compassion they showed during this difficult time. Additional thanks to Cary Twyman, and the numerous doctors who helped with her Multiple Sclerosis over the last decade.
Donna will be remembered forever by all who knew her for her loving heart and wonderful spirit. May she rest peacefully knowing she was loved by so many people throughout her life.
