CROMWELL, Ky. — Dumma Darlene Allen Culbertson, 76, or Bookey as her twin sister called her, and the name carried throughout her life, went to her heavenly home on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, with her family by her side at Beaver Dam Nursing & Rehab. She was born April 9, 1947, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Hilbert C Allen and Luvenia Belle Sorrels Allen.
Dumma Darlene was a homemaker and member of Beaver Dam Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed crocheting, canning, animals, word search puzzles, singing, church service, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Wesley Culbertson (Oct. 12, 2012); granddaughter, Elizabeth Nicole Kelley (Oct. 20, 1995); twin sister, Deana Allen (Sept 12, 2022); sister, Martha Sue Poor (Dec. 21, 2002); and three brothers, Charles Allen (Jan. 2017), Arthur Lue Allen (Oct. 17, 2019), and W.A. “Drup” Allen (Dec 1985).
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, four children, Paul (Kim) Culbertson, Patricia Baize, Tracy Culbertson, and Barbara (Frank) Allen, all of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Paul W. Culbertson Jr., Kayla Monroe, Carolyn Kelley, Samantha (Andy) Ferguson, Rebecka (Ben) Decker, and Ethan Allen; four great-grandchildren, Levi, Zavian, Finley Mae, and Ivan; brother, Leonard (Elizabeth) Allen, of Cromwell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Terry Tarrance officiating. Friends may visit with Dumma Darlene’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
