OWENSBORO, Ky. — Hazel Mae Givens, 81, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born on May 19, 1942, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late J.T. and Claribel Onstott Basham.
Hazel worked at Lady of Mercy Hospital. She loved UK basketball, Elvis Presley music, watching and listening to live music downtown, long walks, and eating sugary sweets, ice cream, and Jelly Belly candies.
Hazel also loved everything about her children and grandchildren and was so proud of them.
She is survived by her husband, Ben Givens; one daughter, Cindy Jones; two sons, Eric Givens and Eddie Miller; one sister, Nancy Martin; two brothers, Forest Basham, and Jay Basham; four grandchildren, Brooke Zupnick, Brandon Jones, Tyler Miller, and Charis Miller; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Jim Midkiff officiating. Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry. Friends may visit with Mrs. Givens family from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
