HAWESVILLE, Ky. — Wanda Lucille Smith, 75, of Hawesville, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport. She was born in Ohio County, Kentucky, on Dec. 26, 1947, to the late Lonard and Alberta Lyons Newton.
She attended New Life Baptist Church and was a housewife. Wanda was a devoted wife, mother, and mamaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Smith, in 2021, and siblings, Harold Denton Newton, Lonard Wayne Newton, Alma Catherine Crowe, and Naomi Patrick.
Wanda is survived by her sons, Steve (Laura) Smith and Brian Smith; grandchildren, Marissa (Sam) Heitzman, Colten (Aubrey) Smith, Justin Smith, Jacob (Kelsey) Smith and Colby Smith; great-grandson, Henry Smith; and brother, Dayne (Diana) Newton.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Hawesville Chapel with burial following in Roseville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
