CROMWELL, Ky. — Shirley Denham Biggerstaff, 75, of Cromwell, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023. She was born on Oct. 26, 1947, in Hardinsburg, Kentucky, to the late Herbert Russell Denham and Nellie Galloway Denham.

Shirley worked at Sumitomo Factory in Morgantown, Kentucky, and Biggerstaff, Ward & Assoc. PLLC in Hartford, Kentucky. She was also a former Girl Scout leader at Southern Elementary School and helped run Oldham Ballpark in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, for several years to keep it open so her daughters and other girls would have a place to play softball.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of almost 54 years, Keith Biggerstaff, of Cromwell; her two daughters, Janet Biggerstaff (Chad) Goins, of San Diego, California, and Karen Biggerstaff, of Cromwell; her three grandchildren, Natalie Teglia, Sophia Teglia, and William Teglia; and three bonus grandchildren, Natalie Goins, Audrey Goins, and Grant Goins, all of San Diego. She is also survived by three sisters, Betty (Jerry) Poole, of Hardinsburg, Ann (Daryl) Chancellor, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Wilma (John) Kinder, of Louisville; and a brother, Stoy (Nellie) Denham, of McDaniels, Kentucky, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews.

There will be a celebration of life memorial held next Summer along with the burial of ashes in Cave Spring Cemetery in Roff, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Ohio County Public Library or to the Ohio County Animal Shelter. The library has been a very special place to Shirley and her daughters since they moved to Ohio County 48 years ago.
