GREENSBURG, Ky. — Marilyn “Sue” Hawthorne, 66, of Greensburg, formerly of Horse Branch, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born on May 31, 1957, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Carl Givens and Beulah Mae Phelps Decker.
Sue was a registered nurse and the director of nursing at Medco Center of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and she was of the Christian faith.
She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, singing and playing guitar, cooking, gardening, and she loved the Christmas Holiday.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Samuel Scott, and 11 siblings.
She leaves behind to cherish many memories, her children, Elizabeth (Anthony) Hall, of San Antonio, Texas, Kimberly (Larry) Chambers, of Greensburg, Stephanie Paoli, of El Paso, Texas, Chris Hawthorne (Kachina Mowery), of Greensburg, Kentucky, James (Kim) Nethery, of St. Marys, Georgia, and Sara Gonzales, of Austin, Texas; and five siblings, Bessie Singleton, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Frances Coble (John Geary), of Hartford, Kentucky, Cecil Givens, of Springfield, Missouri, Johnny Givens, of Evansville, Indiana, and Jo Brown, of Hartford. Sue was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Ashley Gregory, Jacob Nethery, Layla Nethery, Brandon Hall, Breeyana Paoli, Alyssa Paoli, Diana Paoli, Victor Hawthorne, Vanity Shofner, Katherine Charles, Chyanne Hernandez, and Miya Gonzales, and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Marilyn Sue Hawthorne will be held from 10 a.m. (CST) until the funeral service at 1 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, Aug. 5, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Brent Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry, Kentucky.
