Jack L. LaCour

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Jack L. LaCour, 92, of Beaver Dam, joined our Lord on June 12, 2023. He was born in Sikeston, Missouri, on July 17, 1930, to the late Bernard and Ocie Ola (Mays) LaCour.

He lived in Casper, Wyoming, as a young child. He attended Boonville High School where he played football and basketball, he graduated in 1948.

Jack enlisted in the U.S. Airforce in July 1951 during the Korean War. He graduated from Aircraft and Engine School in Shepherd A.F.B., Texas.

After written tests, he was accepted into the U.S.A.F. Pilot training Cadet program, graduated class 54E, and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant. He was awarded his wings on March 15, 1954, and three days, following graduation, he married the love of his life Suzanne M. Titzer.

He was trained as a low-level B-26 Invader Pilot. He served as a test pilot and as an instructor pilot in single-engine aircraft and multi-engine aircraft. He always felt it was an honor and privilege to fly for the U.S.A.F. and serve his country. He loved this country with great passion. He was an all-weather-rated single-engine and multi-engine commercial pilot.

Jack joined Peabody Coal Company in 1962 in field maintenance. He retired in November 1988.

He loved boating, water skiing, and Harley Davidson motorcycle riding.

Jack had a big personality combined with a playful sense of humor. He was a natural-born teacher who enjoyed sharing knowledge freely. Jack was fortitudinous, perspicacious, strong-willed, and a visionary.

Jack was known to be a conversationalist on any subject. He was socially engaging, very studious, and had a grateful outlook on life. He cared for every living thing. He raised cattle, enjoyed having horses, and always had a German shepherd dog. He was a beekeeper. He fed a pet squirrel daily. He was well-spoken and direct. One always knew where one stood with him. He stood in his truth. He could be off the rails funny. His leadership was told by his commanding presence. He was described by a relative as one of a kind.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Suzanne M. (Titzer) LaCour; four children, Dr. Victor C. LaCour and wife, Debi, Christi A. LaCour, Jeffrey A. LaCour and his wife, Hallie, and Cathy E. LaCour; grandchildren, Kary Kirkpatrick, Courtney Kirkpatrick Allen, Johnathon LaCour, Stacey LaCour Cope, Avery Moore; great-grandchildren, Kaytlin, Kory, Kade, and Kelsey, Zane, Bryce, and Paige; Bronson, Alexander, and Justin; Madison and Piper; step-grandchildren, Christina Bain Brown, Tabitha Bain, and Christopher Bain; step-great-grandchildren, Austin, Abigail, Emily, Blake; and many nieces & nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 16, at Koehler Funeral Home, 304 E. Main St., Boonville, Indiana, 47601.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
