HORSE BRANCH, Ky. – Janice Hayes Himes, 87, of Horse Branch, died at 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, Kentucky. She was born June 22, 1936, in Ohio County, Kentucky.

She was a homemaker and a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church in Madisonville, Kentucky. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a pianist for the Green River Quartet and played for several churches she attended.

She was a volunteer for several years at the Veterans Home in Hanson, Kentucky. Her passions were playing piano, gardening, painting, friends, and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lemon, and Roxie Wallace; husbands, Billy Gene Himes, and Royce Ranney Flener; and son, Terry Royce Flener.

She is survived by her sons, Terry Wade (Jodie) Flener, and Mark Wallace Flener; daughter, Karen (Dover) Halcomb; grandchildren, Seth Ranney (Alison) Flener, Kalyn (Arthur) Fisher, Dr. Megan Halcomb, Jarred Halcomb, Adam (Bridgett) Chinn, and Cody Chinn; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, Kentucky, with Bro. Don Mathis officiating and Bro. Doc Crowe assisting. Burial in Green River Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
