BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Marilyn “Joan” Hobdy, 73, of Beaver Dam, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 25, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born Feb. 5, 1950, in Horton, Kentucky, to the late Lucy Ophelia Smith Baize.

Joan retired from Ohio County Board of Education Central Office and Ohio County High School and was a member of McHenry Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time outside in her garden and growing beautiful flowers, but her greatest treasure was her husband and family. Joan taught them to treasure the little things in life and how to love and what it is like to be loved, showing them a little bit of heaven on earth.

Aside from her mother she was preceded in death by her stepdad, Nolan Rex Baize; grandson, Jacob Ryan Davis, great-grandson, Raylen Coble, and twelve siblings.

Joan leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 42 years, Jackie Hobdy, of Beaver Dam; four children, Jeff (Pam) Tomblinson, of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Jennifer West, of Beaver Dam, Jason Tomblinson, of Beaver Dam, and Joy Ann (Robbie) Coble, of Beaver Dam; nine grandchildren, Matthew Tomblinson, Jocelyn Martinez, Jonathan Davis, MaKayla Tomblinson, Nolan Phelps, Haley-Ann Coble, Jacoby Coble, Jenna West, and Brendan Coble; and five great-grandchildren, Jace Davis, Ryker Coble-Keener, Paisley Martinez, Rylen Rose Johnson, and Simon Setters.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Bro. Brent Howard and Bro. Gary Hines officiating. Friends may visit with Joan’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
