BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Homer Combs, 83, of Beaver Dam, returned to his heavenly father on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. He was born in Jackson, Kentucky, on April 16, 1940, to the late Finley and Ora Ola Watkins Combs.
Homer was a member of the Assemblies of God Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran who served his country for five years. Homer retired from Paxton and Ball and loved to fish and spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arlin, D.V., and Virgil Combs; and sisters, Geneva, Vernita, and Juanita.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 58 ½ years, Phyllis Bailey Combs, of Beaver Dam; children, David Rick Combs (Sylvia), of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Alice Barks (Bruce), of Morgantown, Kentucky; he was blessed with five grandchildren, Mallory Combs (Brian), Myranda West (Heath), Bella Huckleberry, Jacob Barks (Heidi), and Lydia Barks (Josh); 11 great-grandchildren Kylee, Brylee, Mason, Brody, GG, Stetson, Chandler, Ember, Ila Mae, Raylynn, and Kerriann; brother, Ronnie Combs (Kathy); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 18, at 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home with Bro. William Sutton officiating. Burial will be held in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Ohio Co. where Military Honors will be presented by the Ohio Co. Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 18, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.
