**UPDATE** HARTFORD, Ky. (4/18/23) — The Ohio County Water District has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory issued after emergency repairs were made Sunday morning.
The advisory impacted around 460 customers in the Rockport, Ceralvo and Echols areas. Tests confirmed the water quality is safe for customers to drink and use for all other purposes.
According to OCWD General Manager Eric Hickman, the leak began around 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Distribution crews were dispatched early this morning and located a 6″ line leaking on Main Street in Rockport. Crews were able to fix the leak without taking the line out of service.
Typically when the OCWD is able to perform this work it does not issue a Boil Water Advisory because repairs were made while the pipe was still pressurized. However, this affected area experiences lower pressures normally so with the added leak some customers experienced a pressure drop below 20 psi. Therefore, this Boil Water Advisory could potentially affect 460 customers whose pressure dropped below 20 psi during this time.
