BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Maxine Johnson, 86, of Beaver Dam, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, with her family by her side under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born Nov. 6, 1936, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Delmer Snodgrass and Corda Smith Goff.

Mrs. Johnson retired from Houchen’s Deli and was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ. She loved being around her family and preparing delicious meals for them as well as quilting and reading.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Johnson; the father of her children, Chelcie Johnson; husbands, Albert Shields, and Thornton Johnson; sisters, Emma Daugherty, Virginia Hayes, and Brenda Snodgrass; and brother, Ralph Snodgrass.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, one son, Terry Joe (Erva) Johnson, of Amber, Oklahoma; one daughter, Brenda (Dan) Raymer, of Beaver Dam; four stepchildren, Carla (David) Abbott, Patti (Greg) Willoughby, Matt (Christy) Johnson, and Donna (Brad) Johnson; seven grandchildren, Jonaka, Joseph, Kourtney, Christina, Angela, Staci, and Danielle; 10 step-grandchildren, Samantha, Jessica, John David, Lucas, Gage, Ella, Brice, and Jay; 16 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Rein; two very special nephews, Dan and David and their families; as well as lots of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Mike Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Cromwell, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mrs. Johnson’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
