OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023, the Green River District Health Department reported that in the previous month, it had investigated 1,157 new COVID-19 infections. Of those infections, 511 were in Daviess County, 48 were in Hancock County, 335 were in Henderson County, 56 were in McLean County, 79 were in Ohio County, 66 were in Union County, and 62 were in Webster County.
There were 12 COVID-19-related deaths reported in the previous month. The COVID-19-related deaths were six residents of Daviess County, one resident of Hancock County, two residents of Henderson County, two residents of McLean County, and one resident of Ohio County.
The average number of new cases in the district for that period was 37.3 new cases a day. The newly reported cases were investigated between Jan. 2-31, 2023.

The COVID-19 Community Level is currently classified as low for all seven counties in the Green River District service area. GRDHD encourages all its residents to:
- Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. Get vaccinated for flu.
- Stay home if you are sick.
- Get tested if you have symptoms.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; use hand sanitizer if you do not have access to soap and water.
- You may choose to wear a mask at any time.
- Cover coughs and sneezes.
- Anyone with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask. Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness.
February is Heart Month
February is American Heart Month. Cardiovascular conditions impact more than 120 million Americans, making heart disease the leading cause of death in the United States.
Heart month is observed annually. It is an opportunity to learn more about the risks of developing heart disease and to remind people that taking care of your heart is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Knowing the risk factors for heart disease and how to reduce them can decrease the risk of heart attacks and other cardiovascular diseases.
