BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Carroll Gene Hoops, 88, of Beaver Dam, passed away at his home on Dec. 7, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born in Taylor Mine, Kentucky, on April 10, 1934, to the late Archie and Gracie Cardwell Hoops.
Gene was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a retired self-employed truck driver. He loved to fish and ride scooters, but most of all, he enjoyed being a Papaw.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Reba Menken, June England; brothers, Buddy Hoops and Wendell “Scuttie” Hoops; and nieces, Wendy Hoops and Judy Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Vickie Ann Hoops; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Brea Hoops; grandson, Brennan Bullock; nephews, David Hoops and Monty Hoops; niece, Rhonda Hoops; and “adopted” grandkids, Jackson, Isaac, and Adalyn.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m. at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Bro. Greg Fields officiating. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
