HARTFORD, Ky. — The Ohio County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office was recently alerted to a possible jury duty scam.
Scammers, who claim to be with the Ohio County Circuit Clerk’s Office, are calling people to tell them they have been selected for jury duty. This is not how people are notified about jury duty.
According to Ohio County Circuit Court Clerk Shannon Kirtley, jury duty notices are always sent via mail. The circuit court clerk’s office does not call people to tell them they have been selected for jury duty.
Kirtley offered some tips for those who might be contacted by scammers. Use extreme caution. Do not give out any personal information. The scammers are asking for payment when they call, but do not give out any banking or credit card information. There is never any cost associated with jury duty.
If you have any questions or concerns or if you receive a call about jury duty, call the Ohio County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office at 270-298-3671.
