I am a Republican candidate running for the 4th District Ohio County Magistrate seat. My family has lived in this county for eight generations. My parents moved to the 4th District when I was four years old, and I grew up near Magan and attended Sugar Grove Christian Academy. I currently live on the northern tip of the county on Rummage Rd after building a house there over 20 years ago.
I have been married to my wife Melanie for 25 years and we have three sons and one daughter. Reagan, our oldest son, is married and has one daughter. He graduated from Brescia University and currently works at Century Aluminum. Isaac is a senior at Brescia University and will be attending law school this fall. Simon is a junior at Western Kentucky University and is studying Computer Science. LilyAnne is a junior in high school but participating in the early college program through OCTC where she is a freshman.
I enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1997 and served for 17 years, primarily in the capacity of an Army Drill Instructor having been mobilized three times in support of the War on Terror, twice to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, as a trainer for Basic Trainees, Sailors, Soldiers, and Airmen being sent into combat. I also deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 and served as a Combat Advisor to the Afghanistan National Army, working with basic training battalions as they trained soldiers for their national military.
After postponing college until my early thirties, I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management and a Master of Business Administration degree. As I finished my HR Degree, I was given the opportunity to work as an HR Analyst for Century Aluminum Company after working in the Pot Lines for six years. From there I filled other HR roles including Compensation Specialist, HRIS Manager, and Corporate Director of Human Resources. I currently serve as the Vice President of Human Resources for Century Aluminum. I oversee the Company’s Human Resource function, HR Information Systems, Payroll Systems, Employee Benefit Programs, and Compensation and Performance Management Systems.
For me, this campaign is about the future of our county. We must convince employers to locate and invest in our county, but we cannot do this without preparing our children and our workforce to meet the demands of the jobs that they will provide. Additionally, we must improve and maintain the infrastructure that our county is responsible for. This includes our emergency services, county roads, and facilities. I believe that I can bring the energy and leadership necessary to facilitate the changes that we must make in this district and in Ohio County so that we can compete with our neighboring counties.
I humbly ask for your vote May 17, 2022.
