GRDHD reports 55 new COVID-19 cases, 3 COVID-19 death in Ohio County

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, the Green River District Health Department reported that in the previous week it had investigated 282 new COVID-19 infections; 127 in Daviess County, five in Hancock County, 48 in Henderson County, 13 in McLean County, 55 in Ohio County, 18 in Union County and 16 in Webster County.

There were four COVID-19 deaths reported the previous week. The reported deaths were one resident of McLean County and three residents of Ohio County.

In addition to the deaths of three Ohio Countians, Ohio County’s new COVID-19 cases for the week of Sept. 19-25 were up 17 cases from the previous week’s report. With the deaths of three Ohio Countians last week, a total of 111 Ohio Countians have died due to COVID-19-related complications.

The average number of new cases in the district for that period was 40.3 new cases a day. The newly reported cases were investigated between September 19 and September 25, 2022. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides information to help communities decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest COVID-19 data. COVID-19 Community Levels for every county can be found at cdc.gov.

Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.

The COVID-19 Community Level is currently classified as medium for Daviess, Hancock, McLean, and Ohio Counties, and low for Henderson, Union, and Webster Counties.

  • Talk to a doctor about wearing a mask if you are at high risk for severe illness.
  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.
  • Get tested if you have symptoms.
  • People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask. Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness. Wear a well-fitting mask in indoor public settings.
