OWENSBORO, Ky. — Owensboro Community and Technical College’s Workforce Solutions division has partnered with Owensboro Health Regional Hospital to host a career fair for prospective new hires interested in a phlebotomy career. The career fair will offer identical sessions so interested students may attend the session that best suits their schedule. The phlebotomy career fair will be at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
OHRH recruiters will be on hand to share information about employment and the fast-track training partnership with OCTC, where hired applicants can earn wages while training to become certified phlebotomists. Phlebotomists are people trained to draw blood from a patient for clinical or medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research.
The phlebotomy career fair will be held in conference room 8, at OCTC’s Downtown Campus at 1501 Frederica Street in Owensboro. Applicants hired for the Phlebotomy Work & Learn program will train from 4-7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays for a ten-week period. Regular work hours will be based on the employer’s schedule. Tuition and other course costs may be paid by a healthcare facility.
“This is a proven opportunity and we are grateful to our partners to be able to offer it again. Students can not only start a career with one of the top employers in our area but also get their training completely paid for,” said Cindy Fiorella, vice president of Workforce Solutions.
The event is open to the public and will provide assistance with the employment application process. Initial interviews will also be conducted.
