GRDHD reports 944 new COVID-19 cases; 114 new cases in Ohio County

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Tuesday, July 19, 2022, the Green River District Health Department reported that in the previous week it had investigated 944 new COVID-19 infections; 431 in Daviess County, 30 in Hancock County, 213 in Henderson County, 27 in McLean County, 114 in Ohio County, 68 in Union County and 61 in Webster County.

For the region, there were 101 more new COVID-19 infections than in last week’s report.

Ohio County had four more new COVID-19 infections than last week’s report. Ohio County had 30 more new COVID-19 infections this week than two weeks ago. New COVID-19 infections have been on the rise over the last several weeks.

There was one COVID-19 death reported the previous week. The reported death was one resident of Hancock County.

The average number of new cases in the district for that period was 135 new cases a day. That’s 15 more new cases per day than the daily average two weeks ago. The newly reported cases were investigated between July 11-17, 2022.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention provides information to help communities decide what prevention steps to take based on the latest COVID-19 data. COVID-19 Community Levels for every county can be found at cdc.gov.

Levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in an area.

The COVID-19 Community Level is currently classified as high for all seven Green River District counties. Green River District includes Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster Counties.

GRDHD encourages all its residents to:

  • Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.
  • Wear a well-fitting mask in indoor public settings.
  • If you are immunocompromised or high risk for severe disease, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need or take other precautions. Those at high risk should consider avoiding non-essential indoor public activities.
  • Follow CDC recommendations for isolation and quarantine, including getting tested if you are exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms of COVID-19.
  • People may choose to mask at any time. People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
