BEAVER DAM, Ky. — The city of Beaver Dam will hold a town hall meeting to help with its “Doors To Our Past” project. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. Monday, July 18, at Beaver Dam City Hall.
The city was recently awarded a grant from the AARP to undertake the project. The “Doors To Our Past” project will have local artists paint scenes of Beaver Dam’s history on old wooden doors. The doors will be displayed throughout the city and include a plaque with details about the scene and the artist who painted it.
The city would like to invite current and/or former Beaver Dam residents who grew up in the city to have a hand in deciding what scenes from the city’s history get included in the project. The meeting will be to discuss the different memories and decide which ones will make their way to the doors.
The city also needs artists willing to help paint the doors.
Beaver Dam hopes to have artists living in the community, who grew up in the community or who have ties to the community take part in the project. The city encourages any artists interested in the project to attend the meeting Monday night.
This project is likely to be the first project of its kind anywhere in this part of the country. The city of Beaver Dam is very appreciative of the support of this project and the funding it received from AARP, and is looking forward to a great project.
