Beaver Dam seeking donations of old wooden doors for project

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — The Beaver Dam is hoping Ohio County will help the city open “Doors to Our Past.”

Last week the city of Beaver Dam was awarded a Community Challenge grant from AARP to help with a special project called, “Doors to Our Past.” The project will have local artists paint scenes of Beaver Dam’s history on old wooden doors. The doors will be displayed throughout the city and include a plaque with details about the scene and the artist who painted it. The city hopes to find a total of 15 old wooden doors for the project.

The first step of the project was acquiring the grant, the next step is to collect old wooden doors. Earlier today, the city of Beaver Dam, on its Facebook page, asked the public for donations of old wooden doors for the project.

The city believes donating a door would be a good way for local people or families to be a part of the project.

The doors must be solid wood and it doesn’t matter if the doors have hinges or knobs. In its Facebook post, the city included photo examples of the kinds of doors it’s looking for, one of which can be seen above and the other below.

If you have a door you’re willing to donate, contact Beaver Dam City Hall at 270-274-7106. The city will make arrangements to pick up the donated doors.
