HARTFORD, Ky. — Sherman “Wayne” “Doodie” Bailey, 66, of Hartford, passed away on June 24, 2022, at Owensboro Healthcare Regional Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1956, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to the late Sherman Thomas Bailey and Ella V. Johnson Bailey.
Wayne worked for 17 years for Peabody Coal Company and spent his lifetime training dogs.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant child, Andi Bailey; grandson, Kody Clark; and nephew, Brian Thienes.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 35 years, Diane Bailey, of Hartford; four children, Misty (Michael) Riger, of McHenry, Kentucky, Derek (Tracy) Bailey, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Melissa (Chad) Julian, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and Eric (Sara) Beauchamp, of Vine Grove, Kentucky; two sisters, Violet (Lee) Thienes, of Beaver Dam, and Laurie (Barry) Coppage, of Beaver Dam; 14 grandchildren, Zackary (Mercedes) Napier, Tori Napier, Kanyon Bullock, Olivia (Madison) Leach, Mika Riger, Dawson Bailey, Derek (Danielle) Everly, Kristyn (Blaine) Vance, Kamryn Clark, Taylor Julian, Emma Julian, Myah Rishel, Branson Rishel, and Presley Beauchamp; and nine great-grandchildren, Karson, Addison, Madeline, Levi, Zayn, Ian, Jon-Luke, Holt and Cassen.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 27, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Bro. Anthony Goff officiating. Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Wayne’s family from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
