Rev. Leonard W. Farmer

HARTFORD, Ky. — Rev. Leonard W. Farmer, 96, of Hartford, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Ohio County Healthcare. He was born Jan. 21, 1926, in Adaburg, Kentuck, to the late Eunice Walker Farmer and Lula E. Taylor Farmer.

Leonard was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and he was a member of Adaburg Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Pleasant Ridge Masonic Lodge #473 F&AM and the Laborers’ International Union Local #1392.

Leonard was a minister at various churches in Ohio and Daviess counties. He also worked for L & N Railroad and eventually retired from General Electric as well as TVA.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Westerfield Farmer; one son-in-law, Logan “Doodle” Alexander; one granddaughter, Krystal Jones; and his great-grandchildren, Walker Lindsey, Travis, Savannah, Christopher and Brandon Jones, and five baby angels; infant brother, James Duff Farmer; brother, Audrey “Deebo” Farmer; three sisters, Lu Anna Mitchell, Mary Ellen Midkiff, and Edith Wood; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He leaves behind to cherish many memories, three daughters, Dianna Alexander, Virginia (Eugene) Clark, and Janice (Terry) Simpson, all of Hartford; six grandchildren, Larry Alexander, Gary (Amy) Alexander, David Clark, Barry (Elizabeth) Clark, Mike (Amanda) Lindsey and Brian (Mallory) Simpson; 23 great-grandchildren, Bryson, Kayla, Zachary, Loren, Kenlee, Logan, David, Ariel, Travis, Max, Carter, David, Ashley, Hunter, Kyra, Makena, Raylee, Aidan, Khaleesi, Owen, Nadia, Lilah, Ava, and Brody; and one sister, Vear Dean Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Brent Howard officiating. Masonic Rites services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow the funeral service at Adaburg Cemetery near Hartford with Military Honors provided by the Ohio County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Leonard’s family from 10 A.M. until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
