To the residents of Ohio County, my name is Joe Barnes, the Democratic incumbent candidate for magistrate of Ohio County’s Third District. I have served as your Third district magistrate for the last eight years.
As your magistrate, I have worked hard on meeting the needs of our communities while balancing the cost so that we can keep taxes down. I believe that we need to look at every option for our county before we make decisions. I think it is very important that decisions the court makes need to be what’s best for our county long term and not just what’s best for the next four years.
I am a 2001 graduate of Ohio County High School and have obtained Associates of Arts and Applied Science degrees from Owensboro Community College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography with an emphasis in GIS and a minor in Surveying from Western Kentucky University, Road Masters, and Road Scholars degrees from University of Kentucky.
I live on Chiggerville Lane with my wife, Carrie, an employee at the Ohio County Hospital, and our daughter, Chloe, a freshman at Ohio County High School.
I have worked in the career of surveying and engineering for the past 18 years, during which I was employed by Biggerstaff and Ward in Hartford, Associated Engineers in Madisonville and the local Coal mines in the engineering department.
I feel that my background in engineering and surveying has given me the experience and knowledge that I can rely on for your county road issues, as well as other county concerns.
If given the opportunity, I will be proud to continue to serve and represent the people of the Third District and Ohio County.
I would appreciate your vote on May 17. Thank you!
