HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Gregory Allen “Uncle Egger” Murphy, 36, of Horse Branch, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, in Grayson County, Kentucky. He was born August 11, 1985, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Christopher Murphy and Shela Burden Murphy.
He was employed by Stratus Plastics and a member of Millwright Union Local #1076. Greg enjoyed his chickens, horses, fishing, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Claris Burden; paternal grandparents, Ethel and Cordelia Murphy; and aunts and uncles, Costella Heflin and Betty Jo Ferguson, Charlie Louis Murphy, and David Murphy.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his parents, Chris and Shela Murphy; three siblings, Crystal (Norman) Geary, Aaron (Crystal) Murphy, and Lori (Dustin) Morris, all of Horse Branch; nieces and nephews, Morgan Murphy (Eric Jackson), Tristen Murphy (Destiny Matlock), Kameron Morris, Briar Geary, Jenna Morris, Kyleigh Murphy, Colton Murphy, Kyra Morris, Bryson Geary, Jackie Geary, Heaven Morris and Cody Morris; Greg’s family at heart, Kaitlyn Nickerson, Brenton, and Zaiden; aunts and uncles, Terry (Kim) Burden, Timothy Burden, Donna Burden (Wesley Johnson), Lisa (Chris) Stone, Amanda (Nicholas) Roach, Dale (Patty) Murphy, Jeff Murphy, Stephen (Ashley) Murphy, Richard Murphy, Angie Raley, Flora Mae (Don) Bratcher and Donna Daugherty; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Terry Tarrance officiating. Burial will follow in Horse Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Horse Branch, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Greg’s family from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
