MADISONVILLE, Ky. — Beginning Monday, Feb. 28, a contractor will begin the process of implementing a northbound lane closure in the slow lane on I-165 at the Hartford exit in Ohio County.
The closure will begin one mile before and after the Hartford interchange. Crews will begin the excavation of the existing ramps.
The week of March 6, motorists should anticipate the installation of a signed detour and the closure of the existing northbound ramp to KY 69. Traffic will not be able to exit onto KY 69 if they are traveling northbound on I-165. The northbound ramp from KY 69 will remain open.
The closure is necessary to construct a box culvert and perform the required grading for the new ramp.
The project was added to the Recommended Highway Plan in 2018 and will improve the functionality and safety by bringing this interchange up to current interstate standards located at milepoint 50.1. Work began Oct. 1, 2021, and is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2022.
