PRENTISS, Ky. — Edna Colleen “Burris” Hicks Leisure, 89, of the Prentiss Community of Ohio County, Kentucky, passed away, Friday, Feb. 18, 2022. She was born July 26, 1932, in Cools Springs Community of Ohio County to the late Oakley and Ruby Shirl Brown Burris.
She was a life time member of Slaty Creek Baptist Church, retired from Bellsouth/AT&T after 35 years; she loved quilting, telling stories from the older years, going to hear special music at different churches, visiting her grandbabies in Alaska, and visiting Hawaii.
Aside from her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Milford Harkless “Lucky” Hicks; second husband, Calvin Leisure Sr.; and one stepson, Jimmy Roger (Jimmy-John) Hicks.
Survivors include five children, Cynthia (Ron) Woodrum, Rebecca (Bill) Hall-Quigg, Jenny (Daymond) Geary, Nancy Hicks, and Robert (Estella) Hicks, and two sisters, Madelene Coleman and Shirley Jean (John) Swindells. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, at Slaty Creek Baptist Church in Prentiss, with Rev. Daymond Geary and Bro. Tim Hall officiating. Burial will be in Slaty Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Prentiss. Friends may visit with the family of Edna Collen Hicks Leisure from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.
