David ‘Gayle’ Givens

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — David “Gayle” Givens, 93, of Beaver Dam, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at Wellington Parc. He was born Feb. 11, 1929, in McHenry, Kentucky, to the late Harry Conrad “Connie” Givens and Violet “Loray” Ward Givens.

Mr. Givens retired from Peabody Coal Company and was a member of UMWA Local 8941. He was a member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Lewis Givens; granddaughter, Joy Clubb; and sister, Nancy Wylene Patton.

He leaves behind to treasure many memories, two sons, Mark (Cecelia) Givens, of Graniteville, South Carolina, and Stephen Givens, of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Holly Locken (Robert Parker), of Paducah, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Dr. Erica Givens (Dr. Sam Beckerman), Jacob (Amela) Prewitt, Peter Locken (Lindsey), and Amy (Richard) Sowell; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Darius.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Kenneth Spurrier officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Mr. Givens’ family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
