HORSE BRANCH, Ky. — Billy Ray Tate, 81, of Horse Branch, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, at his residence. He was born April 21, 1940, in Grueti-Laager, Tennessee, to the late John Tate and Elva Street Tate.
Mr. Tate retired from Ball Glass and attended Sugar Grove Church of Christ.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Marvadene Doolin Tate; one son, William Dean Whitten; two brothers, Johnny Tate and James Tate; and one sister, Sissy Brooks.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, three sons, Bryan (Laura) Tate, of Hessville, Indiana; Brian Dale (Pamela) Whitten, of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Ricky Wayne Whitten, of Hammond, Indiana; one daughter, Tracy (Tim) McGuire, of Crown Point, Indiana; one sister, Nancy Jo (Jim) Stewart, of Florida; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Fordsville. William L Danks Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
