MADISONVILLE, Ky. — There are 100 centerline miles currently needing storm debris cleanup in the District 2 region. Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid those areas as it hinders the clean-up process. KYTC crews continue to clear and remove debris generated by several tornados Dec. 10.
Of the 11 counties that make up the District 2 region, Christian, Muhlenberg, Caldwell, Ohio and Hopkins received the most severe damage.
A multi-county tornado, affecting Caldwell, Hopkins, Muhlenberg and Ohio, began around 10:15 p.m., leaving District 2 around midnight. This tornado traveled 83 miles across the district within 90 minutes.
All routes were passable by end of daylight Dec. 11, with most routes cleared by mid-morning. Any closures that were in place were due to utilities on roadways.
