OWENSBORO, KY. — Wendell Foster, a local agency serving people with disabilities, will host its annual Special Needs Expo from 1 – 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at the Owensboro Convention Center, 501 W. 2nd Street.
The Special Needs Expo is an opportunity for community agencies to provide information about resources and services that will assist families in supporting a loved one with a disability. The Expo will include non-profit organizations, state agencies and private businesses that provide services in the following areas: Adult Day Services, Advocacy and Support, Assistive Technology, Behavior Supports, Durable Medical Equipment, Early Childhood, Education, Employment, Future Planning, Health and Rehab, Recreation and Waivers.
Celebrity guest, Sean McElwee, an actor from the hit A&E reality show “Born This Way,” entrepreneur and self-advocate, will give a speech and host a “Grin and Wear It” Fashion Show. The fashion show will feature local models of all ages and abilities wearing their favorite “Seanese” shirt.
There is no charge or registration required to attend. COVID protocols include mask requirements and 16″ aisles. Free backpacks will be given out, and door prize drawings will be held throughout the day.
