CENTERTOWN, Ky. — Bertha Mae Sheffield, 79, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born Jan. 12, 1942, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Ernie Allen and Bessie Duncan Allen.
Mrs. Sheffield retired from the Ohio County School System where she worked as a secretary at Western Elementary School and was a member of Centertown Baptist Church.
Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Randall Sheffield.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, one son, Mark (Melony) Sheffield, of Centertown; two daughters, Kim (Jerry) Vender, of Centertown, and Edwina Sheffield, of Hartford, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Toby Sheffield, Matthew (Christy) Sheffield, Eric (Sara) Vender, Ashley (Garrett) Beasley, Josh Vender, and Harley Slack; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, David (Kathy) Allen, of Centertown.
Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at Lone Star Cemetery in Centertown with Matthew Sheffield officiating. Friends may visit with Mrs. Sheffield’s family from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky.
