HARTFORD, Ky. — Larry Woodrow Johnson, 75, passed away on Sept. 15, 2021, in Hartford. He was born April 17, 1946, in Butler County, Kentucky, to the late Woodrow W. Johnson and Jewellene Johnson.

He married Norma Jean McAdams in 2002 in Hartford after being together since 1981.

Larry served in the US Army from 1962 to 1969. He served in Germany and Vietnam. Also, he was an Honor Guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

After his military service, he worked as a truck driver, in construction, and as a painting contractor. He loved traveling and never met a stranger. He and Norma moved to Roswell, New Mexico, and stayed for many years.

Larry was a family man in every sense of the phrase. His loving grin and infectious laugh were always a welcome part of any gathering. All those who knew him couldn’t help but know they were cared for. He touched so many lives with his kindness and loving spirit. Larry was deeply loved and will be missed more than words can explain.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry Lee Johnson and Randy Johnson; his sister, Maydean Johnson Fulkerson; and his daughters Amelia Faye Johnson and Tonya Lynn Autry.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Johnson, of Hartford; one son, Clinton McAdams and wife, Jessica, of Norfolk, Virginia; two daughters, Ashley McAdams, of Hartford, and Anita Sorrels, of Dallas, Texas; his brother, Mark Johnson and wife, Suzanne; his sister, Annette Evans, all of Kentucky; and his brother, William Johnson and wife, Rita, of Roswell, New Mexico. Also surviving him are his grandchildren Jude, Bailey and Zachary McAdams, of Norfolk, Hermione Swift, of Hartford, Sgt. Brandon Johnson USMC and wife, Abby, of Okinawa, Japan, Justin Johnson, of Owensboro, Kentucky, Rowan Ralph, of Hartford, Kolton Sorrels, of Dallas, and Sgt. Ian Kingsfather USMC, of San Antonio, Texas, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, with full military honors by Ohio County Honor Guard. The service will be officiated by his nephew, David Johnson, of Roswell, New Mexico. A private burial will be held at a later date in Rosine Cemetery. Friends may visit with Mr. Johnson’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
