MORGANTOWN, Ky. — Joseph Earl “Bill” Ellis, 92, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bill was born on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 1928, in Woodbury, Kentucky, to the late Alford Roscoe and Sabie Sublett Ellis and husband of the late Matelene “Matt” Ellis.
He was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church, World War II Army Veteran and he retired from Madusa Rock Quarry in Dundee, Kentucky.
Bill loved all the trucks he owned over the years, enjoyed being around people, talking, and trading.
Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Elizabeth Lasley.
Joseph Earl “Bill” Ellis is survived by one daughter Marsha Lynn Ellis Forshee (Jim) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; two sons Joseph Earl “Jody” Ellis Jr. (Ann), of Morgantown, and Ricky Ellis (Lisa), of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Greg Ellis (Melissa), of Scottsville, Kentucky, Teena Raines (James), of McHenry, Kentucky, Rich Ellis (Alicia), of Morgantown, and Stacey Newton (Steve), of Caneyville, Kentucky; 10 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; twin sister, Earlene Farris, of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 12:30 p.m. with Bro. Chris Vaught officiating. Burial will be held in the Cook Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until funeral time at 12:30 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
