McHENRY, Ky. — Jay Shultz, 82, of McHenry, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 7, 1938, in Butler County, Kentucky, to the late Freeman “Shag” Shultz and Ruby Evelyn Plummer Shultz Hudson.
In 1962 he married the love of his life, Barbara James Shultz. Jay was a member of McHenry Baptist Church where he was a former deacon. He was the owner and operator of Western Auto in Beaver Dam and was also a retired bus driver for the Ohio County Board of Education. Jay was known to transport three generations on his route.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Shultz, of McHenry; son, Todd (Susan) Shultz, of Hartford, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Heather (Bailey) Millsaps, Adrienna Shultz and Carter Shultz; two great-grandchildren, Eli and Everly Milsaps; sister, Joan Condit; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Rev. Brent Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Render Memorial Cemetery in McHenry with full military honors by Ohio County Honor Guard. Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
