KINGSWOOD, Ky. — Shelby Thomas Spencer, 92, of Kingswood, died May 31, 2021, at his residence. He was born in SeRee, Kentucky, on Nov. 18, 1928, the son of the late Ivan and Gertrude Butler Spencer.
Tom was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a hardworking farmer and truck driver, jobs that he enjoyed. When he was younger, he liked to fish, hunt, and attend tractor pulls.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Spencer; son, Kenny Spencer; great-grandson, Zane Spencer; and sisters, Jean and Lorene.
Tom is survived by his sons, Larry (Elizabeth) Spencer, of Goodyear, Arizona, and Steve (Connie Brown) Spencer, of Westview, Kentucky; daughter-in-law, Marsha Spencer, of Fordsville, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Michael (Andria) Spencer, Brian (Kristy) Spencer, Todd (Nikie) Spencer, Chad (Melissa) Spencer, Bradley (Kara) Spencer, Natalie (Iren Basham) Spencer, and Felicia Weedman; 12 great-grandchildren; and half-sister, Carol Galbreath, of Florida.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, June 3, at 1 p.m. with burial in the Kingswood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday after 9:30 a.m..
