**UPDATE** KSP makes arrest in murder investigation in Butler County

**UPDATE** MORGANTOWN, Ky. (5/13/21 – 6:30 p.m.) — The Kentucky State Police has arrested Samantha J. Stewart, 43, of Morgantown, in connection with the death of Michael Embry.

Stewart was charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. She has been lodged in the Butler County Jail.


MORGANTOWN, Ky. — The Kentucky State Police is investigating the death of a Morgantown man in which foul play is suspected.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 in Bowling Green was contacted Wednesday afternoon, in reference to a dead man at a residence at 2739 Caneyville Road in Butler County.

KSP Troopers and Detectives responded to the scene where they found Michael Embry, 57, of Morgantown, dead in the residence. Embry was later pronounced dead by the Butler County Coroners Office.  An autopsy has been scheduled at the State Medical Examiners Office in Madisonville.  The investigation continues and foul play is suspected.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 3 Detectives. KSP Detectives were assisted by KSP personnel, the Butler County Coroner’s Office, Morgantown Fire Department, 5th District Fire Department and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
