William A. ‘Buddy’ Daugherty

OWENSBORO, Ky. — William A. “Buddy” Daugherty, 76, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Signature Healthcare of Hartford, Kentucky. He was born July 29, 1944, in Oak Ridge, Kentucky, to the late William Stoy and Gladys Pearl Burden Daugherty.

Buddy was retired from Perdue. He refereed Jr. Pro Basketball and umpired softball and baseball for 35 years. He was an avid UK and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Daugherty, and three siblings, Wayne Daugherty, Connie Daugherty, and Faye Aldridge.

He leaves behind to treasure many memories his son, Junior Daugherty, of Owensboro; three grandchildren, Vieaha Daugherty, Lennox Blu Daugherty, and Aubree Grace Ann; three great-grandchildren, Kysen, Ariah and Harlem; and five siblings, Marion (Linda) Daugherty, Charles Daugherty, Beulah Condit, Kitty (DJ) Johnson, and Kathy (Ed) Kitka.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to, William A. “Buddy” Daugherty Memorial Fund, c/o William L. Danks Funeral Home, PO Box 407, Beaver Dam, KY 42320.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, March 5, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, with Rev. Bruce Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Buddy’s family from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
